Warhammer Total War 2 Freezing
So i had this problem for so long, as long as i can remember buying and playing the game. At the frist the game was playing just fine from when i bought it.
Now it just constant Freeze during the Campaign and battles. The screen would freeze but the game would continue in the background of the frozen screen. The music, mouse click, Unit speech and battle would still play even though the screen is frozen. Im just about done every thing from Lowering the graphics all the way to Low and stopping from turning off some Graphics setting and reinstalling to changing screen resolution and window the game. Yet it still freeze after about 10 mins into the game. I am just about to give up and refund the damn game and wait for War Hammer 2 and see if it works too. I had no problem playing with the last Total War games, but War Hammer just wont work and im out of ideas.System Spect:System:Window 10Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz (8 CPUs), 4.0GHzNVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080.

disabling as many non-Microsoft services AND startup items as I can-using the Windows System Configuration (msconfig & task manager tools). Played game-tried really hard to make it freeze (whizzing around the battlefield, doing crazy things with the camera, etc.)-stopped Adobe Flashplayer & Acrobat update Services, and ArtistScope Pty Ltd.-disabled all startup items by Logitech, Apple, Amazon, Acresso Corp, Nuance Communications Inc.Aug. 1 2017: Big Freeze is BACK!!!

Middle of battle replay.July 31 2017-e: Nvidia driver 384.94 has me back UP again - Sli + all mods + all CPU cores. Supposing it was Nvidia all along.July 31 2017-d: NOPE! Crashing regularly again. Perhaps invalid instruction sent to Nvidia card, b/c the black video refresh happens, then the game comes back frozen. Through playing with this for a while-beating my head against a wall.July 31 2017-c: back to 8 cores on CPU - physically uninstalled 2nd GTX780 Nvidia to eliminate power drain and SLi interface altogether.
Playing with graphical mods. Audio cutting in-and-out during load screens, slow loading.
Game graphics on ultra + reflections + depth of field + FXAA. Decent framerates. Crossing fingers. Reducing audio quality slightly.July 31 2017-b: CRASH returns.
I'm at a loss here. Pre-ordered TWWH2-likely will have the same issues.July 31 2017: NO CRASH with two of my 8 CPU cores 'parked' via the msconfigbootadvanced options#of processors = '6' I also disabled ALL of my mods-will reapply graphical-only mods to see if NO CRASH remains. I also completely disabled SLi for my dual GTX780 Nvidia cards-in case power distribution was an undeclared issue.The hypothetical here, is that either I have a CPU/GPU power distribution problem, OR TWWH is crashing on my machine above 6 CPU cores enabled. NOTE: disabling CPU cores will dramatically affect FPS. I net a 10 percent reduction in FPS by parking 2 cores of my Intel Core i7-4770K (x8 at 3.5Mhz) multi-processor.OTHER Conditions under which I run TWWH:Specs: WIN10, Nvidia GTX 780 (x2)!!!NO!! SLI, Running from solidstate USB 3 drive, Intel Core i7-4770K (x8 at 3.5Mhz) multi-processor (2 cores 'parked.' )Prerequisites: STEAM and TWWH are run as admin., and all.EXEs (including STEAM) are added to exclusion list in Windows Defender settings.

Having exact same issue. Hypothesizing a multi-core threading issue. Attempting test with half of my 8 CPU cores 'parked' via the msconfigbootadvanced options#of processors = '4'will attempt down to 1 -to see if it stops the crashing.will advise if this works.I also have performed all the steps you describe above. Now attempting with zero mods, 100 percent vanilla-NO beta patches (because they didn't solve issue).Read article while waiting.
