That mastery usually comes at a pretty big price.Poker theory is constantly evolving, and if you aren't continually working on your own game and strategies, results - and your bankroll - will likely be negatively impacted. No player is immune from these changes, even those who are considered the best in the game. After coming to the realization that he wasn't playing optimally, Daniel Negreanu, the six-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner and poker's all-time tournament money winner with $39.5 million, had to take a step back last year to re-evaluate his strategies.' I realized in September of last year, playing in the Poker Masters against a lot of the young Germans, that they were outplaying me in certain situations and I was a step behind,' Negreanu said.
'It was very clear to me. So I thought, well, I need to get to work and understand what they are doing.' 'So I hired a couple of guys. And we started working for three months - October, November, December - for four to six hours a day about three or four times a week, just drilling all these new concepts and teaching me game theory. Essentially reworking my mind to have my starting point about how I think of a hand totally different than I've ever done.'
Negreanu expected to get worse initially and, in this very rare moment, his read was completely off. Negreanu finished second at the Bellagio in the first tournament he played after the lessons for $936,000, then added two final tables at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, four final tables during the US Poker Open series in Vegas and, just days before the WSOP started, second in the $300,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl for $3 million.

An ad popped up on my phone for Daniel Negreanu's poker master class. 33+ lessons starting June 19th including downloadable workbooks and videos. I'm posting this here because I'm almost exclusively a LLSNL poker player so I'd like to know if anyone has experience / opinions on:1 - Masterclass.com in general ($90 for one class, $180 for a year of unlimited classes).2 - Online poker classes and how they translate to LLSNL games in general. In your experience are they too general to really help if you only play LLSNL?
Are they too heavy on GTO and FPS plays that I shouldn't focus on at LLSNL poker?3 - Has anyone taken any type of classes for DN before? If so how were they?4 - The thing that really has me tempted is that you can upload videos and a select amount of students will have questions answered directly by DN. Seems worth the money.Thoughts? Out of all the resources out there this is like the last one you should be utilizing to get better at Live Low Stakes NL. Not only has Daniel never played Live Low Stakes but he rarely plays Live NL cash games whatsoever.
The times he has he's played terribly (High Stakes Poker, Poker Night in America as examples). Let's not forget how badly his coaching project Boston Rob Mariano (survivor fame) crashed and burned in the reality show Rob and Amber: Against The Odds.Obviously Daniel is a very talented player with the aptitude to beat any game. However, a 1/2 grinder would be a better coach than him in regards to beating live low stakes. Daniel is primarily a tournament player and NL has never been his specialty (Although he has improved his game in the past 5 years). His background is mostly limit and pot limit. Most of his cash game experience comes from playing in large mixed games (no NL whatsoever). If anything, the stuff you'de learn here would damage your game more than anything else.Ever hear of fancy play syndrome?I'm all in for learning and improving your game but this would be heading in the wrong direction. And an expensive wrong way turn to boot! Not only has Daniel never played Live Low Stakes but he rarely plays Live NL cash games whatsoever. I only started tracking sessions in 2014. 94 of my 116 hrs of poker this year have been 2/5 (still LLSNL). I work full time and have only gotten in 116 hours this year so far as I just had my first child.

There are only a handful of grinders I'd go to for this type of thing, and perhaps I'll reach out, but I'm not expecting my competition to help me take their money. As mentioned earlier I'm already using free resources, this just seemed pretty good for $90. If you had $100 to invest in your LLSNL game what would you spend it on first? I'm quite familiar with FPS. I think I'm advanced enough to recognize which information I can incorporate into my game and which info is for higher stakes / different villains.
Also, $90 is not that expensive in the context of my poker play, it's 18 BB. If I'm going to beat the game for 10 BB / hr then it's less than a 2 hour investment. I am going to say it isn't worth the $. DN plays high stakes cash, tourny's, and plays with many of the same players over and over so a ton of his game is meta based. That doesn't exist in the levels that we play.My advice would be this:1. Post hands here that give you trouble and follow the advice of whom you consider to be the best posters (although read all responses because everyone has a contribution to make and can give you insight into how the player pool thinks).2. Look for lines/opinions that are divergent of yours and engage those posters directly.
No one has a monopoly on poker knowledge, so in most cases there will be more than one play that is acceptable.3. Take a few concepts/lines that you see on here to your next session and try them out. Get out of your comfort zone and push yourself to play differently.you will be surprised by the results.GL.Shorn. I am going to say it isn't worth the $. Or perhaps you give so much advice you forgot that you've already offered your advice on several of my lines. I particularly enjoy the back and forth between you and ATC.

I particularly enjoy the back and forth between you and ATC.I know you are a studious player.that alone will put you in the top 5% of the low stakes player pool.Yeah me and ATC have gone a few rounds but that is what makes the game so great.
He gives very good advice and we just happen to have a different style in certain spots.neither is wrong, just alternatives. Hello,I purchased this course because i couldn't find a thorough review of the entire class after all the video's became available. This was very disappointing.
There are 36 videos in all and the average length of each was between 10 to 15 mins each. Each video is titled, for example video 18 is titled 'Tournament Strategy: Early and middle stages.' Within each video is broken up into smaller sections. 1st section is called, 'Early stages: Play conservatively.' And he talks about that for about two minutes before the next section.
The information in this video and all the other video's was very basic and obviously geared toward beginners and intermediates who need a refresher. This program appeared to be hastily put together and the shortness of the videos and lack of video examples of what he's explaining seems to prove my point. This is more a refresher than an instructional course, the information was nothing profound and when he was promoting this course, he said, 'I'm going to talk about things i've never talked about before.'
I don't believe that at all, because this course was very generic.
